What Past Attendees Are Saying
I was able to network with a lot more organizations than I would have expected and was able to jump-start changes to my career path.
As a first-time attendee, I was unsure as to what to expect but once I began to learn how the conference worked it was beyond what I had imagined! It was amazing! Once the conference began I was able to connect with other people and companies, learn new things, and enjoy time with others that have the same passions as me!
Fantastic people! It is always worth it for the people.
Being a first-timer, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It was bigger than I had pictured, and I couldn't believe how many great people and companies there were to talk to. It was also extremely valuable for summer internship hunting, for which I am very grateful.
The breadth and depth of sessions offered exceeded my expectations. On a couple of occasions, I had several options I needed to choose between. Every class I attended was worth my time.
As a very involved student who would be a first-time attendee, I was expecting something along the lines of the FFA state conventions. While it was very similar with sessions and expos and the way some things were run, the space was overall so accepting. Never in my life have I attended an event so accepting and okay with the new world that 2024 is. From race, to ethnicity, to gender, and sexuality, no one made a difference about it, everyone was treated equally and with respect. I really enjoyed feeling included as someone who sometimes struggles to find my own voice.
What a great conference! This was my first USITT conference, and I had very high expectations going in. My expectations were far exceeded. I made great connections with other industry professionals, discovered some cool new products that will become part of my workflow, and learned quite a bit. I attended this conference because it was where I lived, therefore convenient and easy. I'll pay for the travel next year - I already know it will be worth it.
I had not been to a conference since 2015 as a student, so I wasn't sure what to expect as a working professional. The sessions I attended could be for all career levels. So many of the expo booths were especially kind and had wonderful products and information to share. I got to meet a lot of new people and catch up with old friends as well.
This was my first time attending and I was blown away by how welcoming everyone was. The app was a great way to keep track of everything, the selection of seminars was great, and the expo floor offered so many opportunities (and swag!!).
I felt as a whole my experience was very customizable, especially as a student focusing on technical direction, I wasn't actually sure how many relevant workshops and experiences there would be for me, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were 10 people from my school, and all of us with very different goals and specializations, and we were all able to have diverse experiences even though we all attended the same conference.
The sessions were great and the overall energy was incredible. It is great to be with so many of "my people".
I'm a 52-year-old professional lighting designer and this is my first time at USITT. I learned a huge amount about training resources I can bring back to my town, which has no formal tech theater program anywhere near it (high school or college) but a lot of kids and young adults who are passionate about theater and are just chomping at the bit to learn. I wish I had begun attending USITT regularly, much earlier in my career! I'm a convert now.
It exceeded my expectations. I walked away with so much new knowledge and a handful of strong, new connections. It was a dream. Everyone was beyond friendly and accommodating.
This has been a phenomenal experience as I've gotten to connect with industry professionals and learn from manufacturers of all different products that I will be using for my career.
