Tech Specs

The virtual event will be held via an online website and does not require an application to be downloaded to join the event. However, there are minimum requirements that your computer or device need to meet in order to have the best user experience. 

Web Browser:
  • The PREFERRED browser: Google Chrome (check that you have the latest version)
  • Other ACCEPTABLE browsers include: Firefox (check that you have the latest version) or Microsoft Edge (check that you have the latest version)
  • Can be used, but may be PROBLEMATIC: Safari (check that you have the latest version)

Speed Test:
  • Minimum download speed to join a session as an attendee without interruption is 20 Mbps. To run an automatic BigMarker System Check, click here.

Operating System (OS):
  • PC: Microsoft Windows 10
  • Mac: Mac 10.14 or newer

VPN (Virtual Private Network):
  • If you regularly use a VPN, disconnect from it. If you were on a VPN before entering a session, restart computer with VPN off.

  • Disable any known firewall that might be blocking access. Firewalls will cause delays in audio/video feeds/streaming. You may need to contact your IT department to open any necessary ports. At a minimum, TCP ports 80 and 443 should be open.

Common Troubleshooting Tips:
  • If possible, use hard-wired internet instead of WiFi.
  • Try to have as few devices connected to your internet as possible, to maximize your speed.
  • Close out of apps like RingCentral, Skype, and Zoom and restart your computer before logging in. These apps will often hold on to your previous settings.
  • I’m getting a “Connection can’t be established” screen:
    • Check your speed to ensure it meets above minimum requirements or try connecting from a different device.
    • Disable any Google Chrome or Firefox extensions that might be blocking WebRTC or talk to your IT team to open any necessary ports.
  • I have no sound and can’t hear the presenters:
    • Upon logging in, you will be prompted to accept the audio stream.
    • To adjust volume, use your device’s volume controls.
    • Make sure your computer is not muted and that your speakers/headphones are working properly.
    • Try refreshing your browser.
    • Try restarting your computer.
  • I can’t see the presenter’s video:
    • Try refreshing your browser. Make sure your audio is on after refreshing.
    • Make sure your internet speed meets the minimum requirements listed above.
